“Imagine” is a project I undertook with the good people at Starfire, Cincinnati, a visionary organization working to build better lives for people with disabilities since 1993.
In the Spring of 2014, I worked with loving, caring individuals to create this Imagine Mandala inspired by the John Lennon Memorial Imagine Mosaic located in Central Park just off 72nd W Street.
40 Years ago today 12/8/20 the World Lost John Lennon to violence. This song, released in 1971, deep in the heart of the Vietnam War, “Imagine” asks listeners to envision a world of peace and unity. It peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and remains one of the most well-known and respected songs worldwide.
Here are the lyrics to Imagine,
by John Winston Lennon 1971.
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
